In any industry, time is money. When time is wasted due to a network outage, the results are devastating: on average, a company experiencing an outage loses $12.5 million a day. In our technology dominated culture, moving data seamlessly 24/7 is a necessity for maintaining a steady flow of business. Long-haul fiber-optic networks are the backbones supporting all of our data transferring needs in a safe and secure manner. When it comes to having a fiber-optic network, having true geographic diversity provides an alternative path for your data in the event of an outage; this is an investment in a network’s stability to stay online, instead of going down and losing millions.

In 2013, United Fiber & Data (UFD) started as an idea to solve the issue no other carrier was able to tackle: how do we provide true geographic network diversity? Over the past several years, large enterprises have experienced network outages. In order to solve this problem in the Northeast corridor of the United States, a newly constructed, Westerly fiber-optic path was necessary. With the need becoming evident, Bill Hynes, CEO & Founder of UFD, decided to create a company willing to take on the challenge. UFD’s fiber-optic path can complement any traditional route a company is using for their current data services.
Our new fiber-optic line from New York City, NY to Ashburn, VA is:
Created to offer a truly diverse route, UFD headquarters was purposely positioned in York, PA to be an intrinsic part of stimulating growth in the local economy and its surrounding communities. Hynes takes great pride living by these words from his late mentor— Louis J. Appell, Jr—whose mission was to revitalize York: “Any good that we can do, let us do it now. Let us not defer or neglect it, for we shall not pass this way again”. Rooted in York, PA to help grow the local community—UFD spreads its connections from New York City, NY to Ashburn, VA as a CLEC that is providing network diversity that will change the way we stay united through fiber and data.
